LB Gary Johnson sustains groin injury in practice, will miss 6 weeks

The groin injury University of Texas linebacker Gary Johnson sustained in practice on Tuesday will apparently sideline the senior defensive standout for up to six weeks, per head coach Tom Herman.

Johnson, JUCO transfer from Dodge City Community College, played in all 13 games and started in 7 of them last season for the Longhorns.  He recorded 60 tackles and 2 sacks as a sophmore.

With the departure of Malik Jefferson to the NFL, Todd Orlando’s defensive unit is looking to Johnson to lead a linebacker corps that shined most of last season.
