Texas (19-12) hit three home runs on Tuesday night at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi to propel the Longhorns to a 9-3 victory over the Islanders. Masen Hibbeler got things going in the first inning with a solo home run, and David Hamilton and Jake McKenzie added RBI’s to give the Longhorns a 3-0 lead early on.
In the fourth inning, McKenzie added a sacrifice bunt for an RBI and catcher Michael McCann homered to give the Longhorns a 5-0 lead over Corpus Christi.
Kody Clemens hit a grand slam in the sixth, the first since his brother Kasey’s in the 2017 season, to extend the Texas lead to 9-0.
Corpus Christi would add 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th off Beau Ridgeway but Bryce Elder would close things for a 9-3 Texas win.
Blair Henley (4-3) notched the win for Texas and Leonel Perez (4-2) took the loss for the Islanders.
