With the MLB Draft wrapping up, it was a big day for the Longhorns — including Texas junior second baseman Kody Clemens. The Golden Spikes Award, the most prestigious award in all of college baseball, named the Texas junior as one of the four finalists with a chance to be crowned the best in the country.
After a rough sophomore season, Clemens has been nothing short of spectacular in 2018. The junior is batting a cool .346 with 21 HR and 68 RBIs, and he’s not done yet.
To add to his accolades, Clemens was selected with the first pick of the 3rd round of the MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers.
The winner of the Golden Spikes Award will be announced on June 28. It would be the icing on the cake to see Clemens throw up the horns one last time on the big stage.
