Texas coach Tom Herman previously maintained play-calling would be a collaborative effort, but he apparently intervened heavily Saturday after the Longhorns fell behind 24-7.
According to a report by Anwar Richardson, citing sources, Herman became “actively involved” with play-calling after the first quarter. Herman has been complimentary of offensive coordinator Tim Beck, especially for his work with the quarterbacks, leading up to the start of the season.
Per Richardson via Twitter “Multiple sources told me Texas football coach Tom Herman became actively involved in the play-calling after the first quarter against Maryland.”
Herman meets with the media later Monday.
Herman said Saturday in the aftermath of a second season-opening loss to Maryland in two years that the slow start in the game was on him.
