No time for Texas to rest with TCU on deck

The Texas Longhorns will try to build on Saturday’s win over Southern Cal in preparation for its huge Big 12 Conference-opening game on Saturday at home against No. 15 TCU, which lost to No. 4 Ohio State last weekend at Jerry’s World.

“If we build upon this win the way that I think we will and respond to it the way that I think we will, it will be a really good one when we look back upon it,” coach Tom Herman said Monday.

Herman knows the Longhorns will have their hands full, and then some, against TCU, which has defeated Texas each of the past four seasons.

“This was one win, and we’ve got another one-game season next week against a really, really good opponent,” Herman said. “We’re going to enjoy this one, but our goal is to compete for the Big 12 title in the months of November and December, and we’ve got a big test ahead of us in order to take the next step toward that goal. We’re going to celebrate this win and get back to work.”

Since Mack Brown left as Texas coach, the Longhorns have beaten every Big 12 team at least once… except the Horned Frogs.
