Bleacher Report recently released a list of who they believe are the 10 best freshman in college football so far. Landing at number 2 was Texas safety Caden Sterns, just behind Texas Tech quarterback Alan Bowman.
Sterns, a 5 star recruit out of Cibolo, TX, has definitely been a pleasant surprise during the young season. He has already tallied three interceptions in just 4 games, one coming against Tulsa and the other two coming last week against a ranked TCU squad.
The safety hasn’t just been a ball hawk though, as he blocked a field goal against USC, which resulted in a Texas touchdown. Sterns has also recorded 15 tackles and a pass defended on the season.
He was also named to the PFF National Team of the Week, receiving a grade of 91.1, making him the top performing safety of week 4.
The future is definitely looking bright for this Longhorn secondary with Caden Sterns leading the charge.
