It has not taken long for the Longhorns freshman safety Caden Sterns to make the college football spotlight, as it was recently announced that he won the week 4 Jim Thorpe Award’s Player of the Week.
This award goes to the top defensive back in the nation each week. With his outstanding effort in a 31-16 win against a ranked TCU team, he definitely earned it.
Sterns tallied 5 tackles and 2 very important interceptions to help give Texas its third straight win. He now has 3 interceptions on the season.
Sterns joins fellow defensive backs Tyler Horton (Boise St), Aaron Wade (Utah St), and Alvin Davis (Akron) as the first 4 recipients of this award in 2018.
