Texas offensive coordinator Tim Beck is hospitalized due to an infection.
Beck, who was not with coaches at media availability on Wednesday, is not available to travel to Kansas State with the Longhorns on Saturday.
“It’s unfortunate that Tim will not be able to be at the game with us,” head coach Tom Herman said. “And we wish him a speedy recovery. We’ll pull together as coaches and our offensive staff will call plays collaboratively.”
Herman said after the loss at Maryland in the opener that he took on a larger role in the second half of that game, but hasn’t disclosed the precise split of play-calling duties since then beyond the label of “collaborative.”
Beck and Herman both work closely with the offense and Texas quarterbacks during practice.
