Texas quarter Sam Ehlinger was added to the Manning Award watch list.
The honor is given to the nation’s best quarterback and is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ bowl performances in its balloting.
Ehlinger found himself in more postseason award conversations after leading Texas over Oklahoma in a five-touchdown effort that vaulted the Longhorns up the national rankings.
Ehlinger has 1,534 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions this season. His current streak of 168 consecutive pass attempts without an INT is a school record.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004, an homage to the Manning Football family of quarterbacks — Archie, Peyton and Eli.
