Texas Longhorns coach Tom Herman said three players will sit for “at least the first series” of Saturday night’s game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys after arriving late to a team function this week.
The players are senior cornerbacks Kris Boyd and Davante Davis and junior wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey.
“Beyond that is yet to be determined,” Herman said. “We’ve got standards around here of being on time, and they understand that. But I want to make sure that nobody thinks that they’ve done anything too egregious.
“They understand it, they’re apologetic and they’ve all three had really good weeks of practice and are chomping at the bit for their chance to get in.”
Boyd was named a semifinals for the Jim Thorpe Award earlier this week.
Kobe Boyce and Anthony Cook will start in place of Boyd and Davis, and fellow freshman Jalen Green could also be in the mix.
Humphrey’s spot as the slot receiver will be filled by freshman D’Shawn Jamison and senior Jerrod Heard.
